The Georgia Poll

The Georgia Poll is a statewide RDD (Random Digit Dial) survey of Georgians 18 years and older conducted twice yearly by the Survey Research Center at the University of Georgia.

The resulting data are produced along with a standard battery of demographic items (gender, ethnicity, education, income, age, and urban/rural status), and provided to the researcher in a data format of their choice. Additionally, a description of methods and procedures, cooperation rate, comparison of sample demographics to population demographics, and a codebook are provided.

The cost for each item is $400.00 for 4 items or less and $350.00 for 5 or more items. Researchers who cannot justify the cost of conducting a stand alone survey may purchase individual questions on the survey.

Georgia Poll data become public use data one year after the survey is completed, and past Georgia Poll data files and supporting documentation can be accessed below in the archives section.

Georgia Poll Archives

You may go to two sites for each Georgia Poll cataloged: a codebook site or the actual data site.  The codebook files are in PDF format. To read the data files, determine the variable locations from the codebook site.  These variable locations are noted after the text of each question, designated by TLOC (tape location): 1 (card number): 1-5 (column numbers).
